Our Centre is closely monitoring the ongoing updates regarding the COVID-19 virus. We understand that this can be a very stressful time for many and we are working to ensure that we continue to provide supports to anyone impacted by sexual violence in NL. To stay up to date with government announcements on the virus please visit:
Our staff will be working remotely beginning Wednesday, March 18th and may have reduced capacity during this time. We will continue to share office updates as they become available. If you are in need of support, please review the information regarding our support services and contact information below.
24 Hour Support and Information Line
- This service will remain available toll-free, province-wide 24 hours a day at 1-800-726-2743. Callers will be connected with an empathetic, non-judgmental volunteer who can offer confidential emotional support, information, and resources as needed.
- All in-person support services will be suspended until it is safe to resume this program. However, a staff member will be available to schedule a support session to be conducted over the phone. To schedule a phone call with a staff member, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Hospital and Police Accompaniment
- All accompaniments will be suspended until it is safe to resume this program. If you have questions about accessing support for visits to the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner program at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital or the RNC in St. John’s, please call our 24 Hour Support and Information Line at 1-800-726-2743.
The Journey Project
- As of March 17th, 2020, The Journey Project will be cancelling any in-person meetings as well as any outreach/travel for the foreseeable future. Third-Party Reports are suspended until further notice. However, we will be working remotely to offer support to survivors of sexual violence. We know that the closing of many support services and the reduction/suspension of court and legal services in Newfoundland and Labrador places many of our clients in limbo. Know that you are not alone in this process and we will continue to support you. While we are engaging in social distancing and we may be operating at limited capacity, we will continue to use technology to support survivors throughout our province during this challenging time.
