As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, NLSACPC continues to follow guidance from Public Health officials and the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador.

We are now entering a phase where we can operate as close to normal as possible, while still taking necessary steps for the ongoing protection of staff, volunteers, and clients. Although safety measures such as wearing a mask indoors, ensuring social distancing, physical barriers, and frequent sanitization of high touch areas will remain in place, the vaccine remains the best and most effective way of protecting everyone from contracting COVID-19.

With the introduction of the new requirements about vaccination status for entry to many businesses and organizations, NLSACPC is adopting the following updated COVID-19 policy, effective October 25, 2021.

Please note that this policy applies to both the St. John’s and Happy Valley-Goose Bay offices.

Visitors to NLSACPC Offices

Masks will continue to be required for all visitors to NLSACPC offices, including clients, community partners, and other visitors, such as people making deliveries or carrying out repairs. Visitors to NLSACPC offices will also be asked to provide contact information for contact tracing purposes only.

Time-Limited Visitors

Proof of vaccination will not be required for time-limited visitors, such as delivery drivers or repairpersons.

Clients seeking services from NLSACPC, access to services at the Labrador office or the Journey Project are strongly encouraged to do so by email, phone, or Zoom. All services offered by NLSACPC can be made available to clients without having to meet in person.

In situations where an in-person meeting is requested or required, clients are strongly encouraged to book an appointment in advance, as NLSACPC cannot guarantee that staff will be able to meet without an appointment.

For in-person meetings or appointments at NLSACPC offices, clients will be asked to show proof of their vaccination status by a means approved by the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador. This may include:

– NLVaxPass app (QR code) with accompanying photo ID

– A printed copy of the QR code with accompanying photo ID

Clients who have not been vaccinated or are unable to show proof of vaccination are advised to contact NLSACPC in advance to find alternative ways of receiving support and information services from NLSACPC and the Journey Project.

Please note that no client will be turned away because of their vaccine status. If a client has not been vaccinated or is unable to show proof of vaccination, they may be served in one of the following ways, depending on the circumstances:

– phone

– email

– Zoom

– meetings outside of NLSACPC’s offices (this option may be used in extraordinary circumstances, determined on a case-by-case basis)

Supporting individuals who have been impacted by sexual violence will continue to remain our top priority.
